Utilities and Garbage Collection
Water/Sewer/Garbage BillsEach month the bills are generated within the last week of the month. These bills are due on the following 15th. If the 15th falls on a weekend, you will have through the first business day to take care of your balance without being penalized. The options for paying the bill are drop off in office, mail in, online payments with a fee, or night deposit. The night deposit drop box is located directly in front of City Hall out by the street for easy access.
Garbage pick up is every Thursday for the west part of town (west side of Cockrell Hill Road and the south side of Red Oak Creek Road) and Friday for the east part of town (east side of Cockrell Hill Road and the north side of Red Oak Creek). All trash items should be out by 7:00 am.
Recycling is the same day as the regular garbage pick up, but will run every other week. See the 2017 Recycle Schedule and refer to the column of your scheduled regular service day (either Thursday or Friday) for your recycling days for each month.
Bundled trees, shrubs, etc., securely tied together forming an easily handled package not exceeding 4-feet in length or 50 lbs. in weight will be picked up on regular collection day.
Bulk/Brush Collection is available to all residents every other week on their recycle day. Each resident may set out up to 4-cubic yards of bulk or brush. In some areas brush must be set in the front due to alleyways not being accessible by the brush trucks. Please contact Waste Connections formerly Progressive Waste at 972-937-8836 if you live in an area that has an alleyway prior to pick up.
Bulk Waste includes appliances such as stoves, washing machines, furniture, etc. Items cannot exceed 150 lbs. in weight. Refrigerators must have CFC's removed by a certified technician and tagged confirming removal.
The City of Ovilla contracts with Waste Connections fromerly Progressive Waste Solutions (IESI). The waste company will not collect chemicals, tires, or building materials, including but not limited to liquid paint, pesticides, car batteries and roofing materials.

New residents must complete:
- A water services application
- Sign a service agreement
- Provide a copy of driver's license
- Owner occupied - Deposit of $125 and a $25 non-refundable connection fee is required
- Garbage service only - Deposit of $50 and a $25 non-refundable connection fee
The charges cover water, sewer (if applicable) and garbage collection services.
Rental property requires $150 deposit and a $25 non-refundable connection fee.
Commercial property requires a $200 deposit and a $25 non-refundable connection fee.
