City Council approves Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Budget

Ordinance 2018-17 was presented for adoption of the budget for the Fiscal Year October 1, 2018 – September 30, 2019. This budget is based on the proposed tax rate of $0.660000 per $100 dollars of valuation, with a Maintenance and Operation rate of $0.533417 and a debt rate of $0.126583.   This proposed tax rate would increase total taxes in Ovilla by 6.35% (by which it decreases the current total tax rate by 0.020399%) as proposed by record vote from Council during the August 29, 2018, Council Meeting and Budget Workshop.

This Budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $145,468 which is a 6.35% increase, and of that amount, $68,001 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the roll this year.  

Place 4 Doug Hunt moved to accept the Ordinance 2018-17 adopting the Fiscal Year Budget, seconded by Place 5 Mike Myers.  

Mayor Dormier called for a RECORD VOTE:

  • Place 1 Rachel Huber - Yes
  • Place 2 Dean Oberg - Yes
  • Place 3 Mayor Pro Tem David Griffin - Yes
  • Place 4 Doug Hunt - Yes
  • Place 5 Michael Myers - Yes

Ordinance 2018-17 and the FY 2018-2019 Annual Budget was approved unanimously.
